What is gastroenterology?

Gastroenterology is the study of the functions of the digestive tract including esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. This includes such conditions as acid reflux disease, colitis, colon polyps and ulcers.
